New Story Lending Expands $911 Heroes Program to Include Utility Linemen After Hurricane Helene’s Devastation

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, which left parts of the upstate of South Carolina and western North Carolina in turmoil, New Story Lending is proud to extend its 911 Heroes Program to include a group of workers who played an integral role in the region’s recovery—Utility Linemen.

The 911 Heroes Program, initially designed to offer $911 in lender credits towards closing costs for military personnel, first responders, educators, and medical professionals, will now provide the same benefit to Utility Linemen, effective immediately through March 31, 2025.

Hurricane Helene’s Impact

Hurricane Helene was an unprecedented event, wreaking havoc across communities, leaving thousands without power, homes damaged, and countless lives disrupted. The upstate of South Carolina and western North Carolina were particularly hard-hit, with widespread power outages and significant infrastructure damage. As residents grappled with the aftermath, Utility Linemen worked tirelessly to restore electricity, often battling unsafe conditions and clocking long hours to ensure power was restored quickly.

Their heroic efforts did not go unnoticed by Shane Miller, CEO of New Story Lending. “Seeing the dedication, resilience, and teamwork that Utility Linemen displayed in the face of disaster was nothing short of awe-inspiring,” Shane remarked. “These workers were among the first on the scene after the storm, working around the clock to get communities back up and running. Without their efforts, the recovery would have taken far longer.”

Recognizing Unsung Heroes

Utility Linemen, often working behind the scenes, are vital to disaster recovery efforts. Their work allows first responders to do their jobs safely and ensures that hospitals, shelters, and schools can continue serving the public. For this reason, New Story Lending recognizes these unsung heroes by extending the 911 Heroes Program to include them. “This is our way of saying thank you to the men and women who keep the lights on, literally and figuratively, for our communities,” Shane added.

A New Opportunity for Homeownership

The extension of the 911 Heroes Program aims to support Utility Linemen in their journey toward homeownership, especially as many have their own families and communities to rebuild after natural disasters like Hurricane Helene. With the $911 lender credit available to assist with closing costs, New Story Lending hopes to ease the financial burden and make the home-buying process more accessible to these everyday heroes.

As always, the 911 Heroes Program continues to offer the same lender credits to military personnel, first responders, educators, and medical professionals, honoring their dedication to serving the public. By expanding the program to Utility Linemen, New Story Lending reaffirms its commitment to supporting those who work tirelessly for the well-being of others.

Available Now Through March 2025

The 911 Heroes Program, with the inclusion of Utility Linemen, will be available until March 31, 2025. We encourage all those who qualify as linemen, military (active and retired), first responders, educators and medical professionals to reach out and take advantage of this opportunity.
